The

Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an international non-profit organization

which is a partnership of infectious diseases and public health specialists.

The overall objective of the IDI is to strengthen health systems with strong

emphasis on Infectious Diseases, through Research and Capacity Development. IDI

has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission:

Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services

(provided through a partnership with the Makerere University – John Hopkins

University Core Lab) and Outreach.


Infectious

Diseases Institute (IDI) received funding from Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention (CDC)/PEPFAR to implement a comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in the

mid-western Uganda Districts of Kiboga, Kibaale, Kyankwanzi, Hoima, Masindi,

Buliisa and Kiryandongo. The project is called “Accelerating Comprehensive

HIV/AIDS Service Delivery through Health System Capacity Building and Technical

Assistance of District Health Teams and Health Facilities in Western and West

Nile Regions in the Republic of Uganda under PEPFAR.”


Job Summary: The Field Human Resources Officer will be in

charge of implementing HR actions and administering terms and conditions –

including salary and benefits administration, under the supervision and

guidance of the HR Manager. The Field Human Resources Officer will also ensure

that physical files of all IDI West Nile staff are properly maintained.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Actively participates in staff recruitment

    processes; screening applications ,short-listing candidates ,interviews

    and other selection processes;

  • Participate in staff salary administration

    activities and processes;

  • Staff / personnel records management;

  • The incumbent will administer staff benefits:

    including leave entitlements, NSSF, Salary advances;

  • In charge of the monthly staff time sheet

    management

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Human

    Resource Manager.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the Infectious Diseases

    Institute (IDI) Field Human Resources Officer vacancy should preferably

    hold a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, industrial and

    organizational psychology, social work and social administration or any

    other social science with bias in human resource management;

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in executing

    human resource duties in a busy organization;

  • Previous experience in an NGO setting is an

    added advantage.

  • Proven ability to work with little or no

    supervision;

  • Keen attention to detail;

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of and

    ability to work with Navision computer program;

  • Sense of fairness and equity in handling

    staff matters.

  • Fluency of the local languages within the

    supported districts is desirable.
