Finance

Trust Bank is licensed as a Tier 1 Commercial Bank after taking over the

financial services business of Uganda Finance Trust Limited (MDI). Finance Trust

Bank is a fully-fledged commercial bank serving a clientele of over 350,000

depositors and over 28,000’ borrowers, through a network of 36 branches

countrywide. The bank offers a variety of Products and services including;

Savings, Current accounts, Loans, Money transfer services and Bills payments to

its target market which comprises of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs,

salary earners and youth.


Job Summary: The Head of Treasury and International Business

will be responsible for managing the Bank’s Treasury and International Business.

This covers foreign exchange operations, money market operations, liquidity

management, business growth and International Business. The job includes investing

surplus funds for profi­table returns; and providing technical support for ALCO

Management within a Risk Management and regulatory framework.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The incumbent will ensure that the Bank meets

    all external and internal liquidity requirements and that proper

    contingency plans are in place to address excess and defi­cient liquidity

    incidences in line with the Bank’s Policies and Procedures.

  • In charge of the implementation of globally

    acceptable standards of risk, control, systems and processes.

  • Treasury reporting and analysis for technical

    ALCO support.

  • Control the funds transfer pricing process.

  • Manage all aspects of planning including the

    funding plan and International Business plan execution.

  • Ensure the Treasury and International

    Business operations are in line with compliance guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Responsible for developing Treasury and FX

    products for Retail banking clients and market them jointly with Retail

    relationship management team.

  • Work in liaison with Head of Risk and Senior

    Management Committee to assess effectiveness of hedging strategy.

  • Carry out economic and market analysis and

    forecasting to enable the Bank anticipate changing conditions.

  • Ensure effectiveness of Treasury and

    International Business structure in achieving compliance requirements,

    optimal efficiency, resource utilization and cost containment.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should preferably hold a University

    degree preferably but not limited to any of the following: B (Economics /

    Statistics), BBA, BCOM, BSTAT, BSC (QE).

  • Possession of a Master’s Degree in Banking or

    Economics or Finance is desired.

  • ACI Dealers Certificate, CPB, ACCA, CPA

    qualification is an added advantage.

  • A minimum of five years’ international

    banking experience in a supervisory position.

  • At least three years’ working experience in

    the Global Markets Operations in a ­financial institution.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of treasury

    and financial markets including underlying drivers of balance sheet

    liquidity and drivers of product behavior, risk, treasury ­financial

    planning and reporting and regulatory requirements.

  • Broad working knowledge in trading, financial

    analysis and of financial markets.

  • Familiarity in international business

    operations.

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of Banking

    systems, processes and procedures, as well as, of the systems used by

    Global Markets Operations.

  • Expert knowledge of the products traded by

    Global Markets in the foreign exchange, money market, derivative and

    resource banking markets.

  • The applicant should also have an advanced

    understanding of the various Swift message types used by Global Markets

    Operations and a good understanding of all other SWIFT message types.

  • Highly computer literate in Microsoft Office

    packages and Internet Explorer.
