Alliance

One International provides worldwide service to the large cigarette

manufacturers. Multinational manufacturers of consumer tobacco products rely on

independent merchants such as Alliance One to supply the majority of their

leaf. As a result, Alliance One purchases tobacco in more than 45 countries and

serves manufacturers of cigarettes and other consumer tobacco products in over

90 countries. With its global headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA,

Alliance One proudly claims broad geographic processing capabilities, a

diversified product offering, and an established customer base, which includes

all of the major consumer tobacco product manufacturers. They select, purchase,

process, pack, store, ship, and, in certain developing markets, provide

agronomy expertise and financing for growing leaf tobacco. Alliance One’s

revenues are primarily comprised of sales of processed tobacco and fees charged

for related services to manufacturers of consumer tobacco products around the

world. They do not manufacture cigarettes or other consumer tobacco products.


Job Summary: The Planning and Product Casting Manager will provide

effective administration of the Annual Operating Planning process, tobacco

product costing, sales and profitability projections and business support to

Alliance One Tobacco Uganda in compliance with AOI and AOTU Planning and

Costing Policies and Procedures.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


1. Prepares The Annual

Operating Plan (AOP):
Manages and coordinates the process for

development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).


2. Drives Business

Performance in line with the AOP:

  • Coordinates processes for driving cost

    containment and savings in line with the AOP

  • Provides product costing and customer sales pricing

    support to the business

  • Coordinates the review of processes that

    drive sales and update the monthly Flash Report

  • Manages the company Balance Sheet to keep key

    performance indicators in line with the AOP.

  • Manages the CAPEX process in line with the

    AOP

  • Special projects and product evaluation


3. Ensures Accurate and

Timely Billings for Sales:  
Coordinates

processes for determination and processing of green tobacco sales


4. Participates In the

Development of the Strategic Plan:


Coordinates

the inputs from operations in development of the Strategic Plan


Works

in liaison with the Finance & Managing Directors to develop the 5 year

Strategic Plan in line with Corporate Instructions.


5. Identifies Key Risks

to the Business:
Identifies and document the key risks to the

business.


6. Coordinates and

Manages the Quarterly Expenses Reforecasting Process:
Manages the

quarterly expenses reforecast process.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should preferably hold a Degree

    in relevant business field (Accounting/Economics) and CPA or equivalent

  • Possession of a Master’s Degree in the above

    is an advantage

  • A minimum of four to six years of related

    work experience

  • Planning, product costing, financial accounting

    or similar in the tobacco industry or similar agricultural & process

    oriented operations. 

  • Broad working knowledge of Product planning,

    analysis and costing

  • Knowledge of Crop and customer projections

    and sales

  • Broad working knowledge of Tobacco systems

    applications

  • Computer literacy skills

  • Proven ability to plan, organise and use own

    initiative

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and

    decision making abilities

  • Verbal communication and ability to prepare

    and present relatively complex findings and recommendations

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Member of relevant processional body
