AIDS

Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international not for profit NGO, with its

Headquarters based in Los Angeles, California. Aids Health Care Foundation is

registered in Uganda as Aids Health Care Foundation – Uganda Cares (AHF-UC)

which is qoliaboration between the Uganda Ministry of Health and AIDS

Healthcare Foundation (U.S.A) to provide free HIV/AIDS services; including

antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.


AHF-

Uganda Cares to date operates in 15 districts including; Masaka, Kampala,

Rakai, Mpigi, Lyantonde, Soroti, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu, Kalangala,

Masindi, Amuria, Butambala, Gomba, Serere, Hoima and Tororo supporting 32

clinic sites country wide.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The Senior Accounts Officer will ensure

    compliance and adherence to AHF policies and procedures and Donor

    requirements.

  • Keen review invoices, payment Vouchers,

    cheques and all associated supporting documents with accurate account

    codes.

  • Deposit and withdrawal of cash/cheques and ensure

    that all cash receipts, bank deposit slip agrees with the receipt record.

  • Ensure timely processing of staff/vendors

    invoices and proper documentation of all financial documents.

  • Update and maintain a cash advance register

    and ensure weekly submission of accountabilities and cash refund journals

    to the Accounting Firm.

  • In charge of the preparation and submission

    of monthly statutory obligation i.e. PAYE, NSSH withholding Tax etc.

  • Receive/Record and reconcile all

    accountabilities and cash refunds received from staff/partners.

  • Prepare and submit daily cash receipt reports

    for management review.

  • Prepare and submit cash receipt report on a

    weekly basis Regular Update of Accounting Software, review postings and

    prepare financial & management reports.

  • Carry out monthly reconciliation of Staff

    Advances and update management on the status of staff financial positions

    on a regular basis,

  • Keenly check the financial transactions for

    compliance to AHF policies and the respective project requirements.

  • Ensure accuracy of all financial documents,

    accurate coding and proper filing.

  • Mentor, train and Support finance and

    non-finance staff on AHF financial standards.

  • Coordinate and participate in annual external

    audit, follow up on all issues raised in the management letter.

  • Provide leadership and supervision to

    Accounts personnel as directed by the supervisor.

  • Ensure adequate segregation of duties as per

    AHF Global policy/Manual.

  • Maintain a professional customer care

    approach in interacting with colleagues and vendors

  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the

    Supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the AIDS Healthcare

    Foundation (AHF) Senior Accounts Officer career opportunity should hold a University

    degree in Accounting/Business related and a full professional course

    either ACCA, CPA, CA

  • At least three years’ experience with an

    International NGO or developmental Agency in a similar capacity.

  • Excellent computer skills especially Excel

    spreadsheets and Ms Word.

  • Working knowledge of IFRSs and the

    procurement/supply chain process.

  • Experience and knowledge in usage of

    QuickBooks and Tally Accounting software required.
