Job Summary: The Transmission Engineer will be responsible for

the coordination, management and execution of proactive and reactive

maintenance activities that require a higher level of support that the one

offered by the 1st Level Operations. The incumbent will ensure that the

services provided to customers are continuously available and performing to

Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance levels.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The Transmission /Microwave expert is

    responsible for securing the operations activities and performs his / her

    duties according to the following points.

  • Second line back office Support Service

    engineer for Transmission competence area.

  • Transmission Network daily Alarm monitoring

    & Corrective action for clearing alarms

  • Preparing the Daily Alarm & Network

    Availability Status report for TX / Backhaul Microwave Link

  • Alarm Troubleshooting & Corrective action

    for TX/ Microwave Network from 5620 SAM.

  • Support as per Alarm severity in both LRAN

    & Microwave Backbone Network.

  • Engineers should be able to set the required

    parameters for the network elements.

  • LAG and VLAN creation and management through

    5620 SAM.

  • Engineers should be able to check and correct

    any Operation and Maintenance Unit failures or/and alarms.

  • In charge of rectifying any Inconsistencies

    related to TX /MW network.

  • The incumbent will detect network faults and

    resolve.

  • Software Rollout & Upgrade Procedure for

    ALU TX Equipment’s.

  • In charge of capacity augmentation&

    add/Delete TX Nodes as per requirements.

  • In charge of extracting Link/Ports

    utilization Reports through 5620 SAM

  • Maintaining TX Equipment’s KPI’s as per SLA

    & Preparing report for the same.

  • Initial Level Interference Troubleshooting in

    TX Equipment’s.

  • Manage TX Equipment Migration as per Demand

    on Project.

  • Configuration Backup & Restoration

    Procedure.

  • Conducting Acceptance Test & Throughput

    Test as per standard.

  • Responsible for new software release feature

    compatibility with previous release on Live Network before loading to all

    live nodes.

  • Preparing Data Base documentation for TX

    Equipment’s configuration as well as site Details.

  • Communication Skills and ability to work in a

    stress/Pressure environment.

  • Generating all reports to Company Management

    and managing day-to-day support Activities.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should have Microwave and Optic

    transmission experience

  • At least seven years of Telecom Industry

    experience preferably with vendor, which can be implementation,

    integration/commissioning, Operation & Maintenance or Trainings.

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Experience on ALU 5620 SAM, 9500 MPR-e, 9500

    MPR-MSS-4 and 9500 MPR-MSS-8

  • Familiar with all NOC activities including

    supervision, Fault handling and troubleshooting, Configuration and WO

    execution, performance monitoring and supporting to L2/L3,…etc.

  • Strong written and communication skills and a

    proactive approach to daily tasks and the ability to work in a highly

    pressured environment

  • Transmission planning and topology experience

    will be an added advantage.

  • Practical working experience as 2nd Level

    O&M engineer or support engineer on  

  • Ericsson/Alcatel Transport Node.

  • Solid O&M experience for all ALU TX/MW

    Products.
