UHMG was

awarded the USAID/Uganda Social Marketing Activity, a four-year cooperative

agreement for a health sector-wide program. The program’s goal is to contribute

to a reduction in new HIV infections, total fertility, maternal and child

mortality, malnutrition and malaria, and to improve access to family planning.

This four-year activity aims to improve utilization of and increase the uptake

of health-related social marketing products and services among under-served

Ugandan consumers and communities in rural and urban areas.


Job Summary: The Sales

Officer will be charged with the responsibility for the product sales of the

project to the intended beneficiaries within the specific region assigned. This

will include interventions in close collaboration with major Distributors in

order to increase availability of the USAID brands on the market, building

demand among private health providers, and utilizing the developed strategies,

tools and procedures to guide in increased distribution and sale of socially

marketed products. S/he will travel frequently with the region of operation,

primarily to areas with limited access to family planning products in order to

work with distributors and stockists, and hence will require a self-driven, seasoned,

and experienced person with skills to manage and oversee these technical areas.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


1.

Sales and Distribution Strategy and Action Plans:


·        
Implement the Sales Plan and Distribution Strategy

for the Socially-Marketed products in line with the Project’s objectives.


·        
Work in liaison with existing distributors,

customers, and end-mile outlets to to ensure the right mix of customers and

products and increase product sales.


·        
Utilize the mechanisms set for real-time tracking

and reporting of sales, and advise on market share, knowledge, and development

needs.


·        
Ensure timely reporting of market feedback to the

supervisor.


·        
Provide the supervisor with data to forecast demand

for social marketing products in order to generate projections and orders for

timely procurement, meet set targets, and avoid stock outs.


·        
Ensure distributors in the region have products

available and affordable to retailers at multiple levels of the supply chain,

and link distributors to retailers to ensure that prices reflect the

Recommended Retail Price (RRP).


·        
The incumbent will also propose incentive schemes

and other appropriate schemes to encourage expansion of distribution, especially

in hard-to-reach and remote areas.


·        
The incumbent will also support the Sales Manager in

monitoring the effectiveness of incentive schemes versus actual distribution coverage,

product availability, and sales uptake.


·        
Coordinate product distribution to ensure

region-wide coverage and timely servicing of orders in order to achieve the

desired distribution coverage and utilization of products.


2.

Performance Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation:


·        
Provide monthly value sales and collections for all

marketed products.


·        
Prepare and submit periodic reports on performance

of socially marketed products vis-a-vis set targets, including an inventory of

stock, and use the findings to revise/update product strategies.


3.

Relationship Management:


·        
Create and manage relationships and networks with

existing distributors, customers, and potential customers to ensure community

promotions, penetration, and last-mile delivery of products.


·        
Actively facilitate demand creation of UHMG Products

and ensure timely supply at all times within the region.


·        
Work in liaison with the supervisor to ensure obligations

of customers are met in a timely manner.


·        
Actively monitor the efficient distribution of UHMG

products to ensure wide coverage and maintenance of timely servicing of all

orders.


·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Sales

Manager


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The applicants for the Sales Officer Jobs should

hold Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration, Marketing or other

management related field


·        
Possession of a Post graduate Diploma in Sales and

Marketing is essential.


·        
Professional qualification such as CIMA will be an

added advantage


·        
A minimum of four years’ relevant experience working

in the field of product sales, marketing, and distribution in a donor

environment.


·        
Prior exposure and experience working with USAID

programs will be an added advantage.


·        
The person should be detail- and results-oriented,

have strong conceptual, analytical, and presentation skills, with expertise in

proactive information gathering, analysis and impact monitoring, be proactive,

and institute innovative sustainable interventions, and should have the

capacity to work with minimum supervision, while upholding the Core Values of

UHMG.


·        
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in relevant

computer applications and databases, with hands-on experience in the use of

software is required


·        
Self-motivated, focused, disciplined professional,

with the drive and dynamism to work under pressure with competing deadlines,

and possess the ability to make an immediate impact.


·        
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical

and result-oriented skills, and experience in managing objectives with the

customer in mind.


·        
Good judgment, initiative, high sense of

responsibility, tactful, ability to plan, organize and measure outcomes of

interventions.

Exemplary and honest, with a high level of energy

and integrity, and able to work under minimum supervision.
