About USAID SHOPS Project:
The
Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project is
USAID’s flagship initiative in private sector health. SHOPS focuses on
increasing availability, improving quality, and expanding coverage of essential
health products and services in family planning and reproductive health,
maternal and child health, HIV and AIDS, and other health areas through the
private sector. In Uganda, the healthy mother voucher program has two
objectives: to provide access to maternal child health care services from
accredited private facilities and to build the capacity of a local organization
to manage the voucher program.
Job Summary: The Clinical
Advisor will mainly manage the work of the accreditation and training
organization and support training for participating health providers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Offer technical leadership, support, and supervision
to the accreditation unit.
·
Render support in the assessment of clinical
training needs and in the design and implementation of appropriate measures to
address those needs.
·
Support training and curriculum development on the
topics of:
o Delivery,
including complications such as cesarean section and pregnancy-related
hypertension
o Postpartum
family planning
o Nutrition
education
o Complications
during the neonatal period.
·
Work in liaison with the Training and Capacity
Building Specialist to implement innovative approaches for improving technical
skills, including sharing best practices and lessons learned from other
programs, and developing training.
·
Provide inputs for technical and financial reports.
·
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
·
The applicant should preferably hold a Clinical
degree in medicine, nursing, midwifery or other related specialty.
·
At least eight years of relevant clinical, health,
and/or medical work experience, including training and capacity building.
·
Prior exposure and experience with private sector
health service delivery.
·
Ability to write technical papers and reports.
·
Ability to correctly interpret health management
information.
·
Ability to develop, plan, implement, and facilitate
capacity building activities.
·
Prior experience in coaching individuals and
organizations on clinical and medical issues.
·
Advanced written/oral skills in English; knowledge
of Ugandan national languages are an advantage.
·
Extensive professional experience in Uganda.
