UHMG was

awarded the USAID/Uganda Social Marketing Activity, a four-year cooperative

agreement for a health sector-wide program. The program’s goal is to contribute

to a reduction in new HIV infections, total fertility, maternal and child

mortality, malnutrition and malaria, and to improve access to family planning.

This four-year activity aims to improve utilization of and increase the uptake

of health-related social marketing products and services among under-served

Ugandan consumers and communities in rural and urban areas.


Job Summary: The Stores

Assistant will provide professional stores management support to the USAID Project

in line with the stores and stocks management and operational policies and

guidelines, while ensuring value for money, efficiency and effectiveness. This

will include timely reporting of all stock status and movements and hence will

require a fast learner, self-driven, seasoned, and experienced person with

skills to manage and oversee these technical areas.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
The incumbent keeps the stores inventory records

updated.


·        
Participate in the receipt and issue of all

supplies.


·        
Maintain the stores in accordance with the set

standards, and check that safety measures are in place and are adhered to.


·        
The job holder will minimize all areas of inventory

and product damage and loss


·        
Work in liaison with the supervisor to ensure

sufficient space for all products received.


·        
Regularly track products’ expiry dates and

dispatched supplies according to expiry dates (FeFo or FIFO) to avoid product

expiry.


·        
Work in liaison with the Logistics and Supply Chain

Officer to ensure that supplies are dispatched in a timely manner, and to the

intended beneficiaries, and that all deliverables are signed for.


·        
Actively participate in periodic stock

counting/taking and compile reports.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the USAID UHMG Project Stores

Assistant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

or Procurement.


·        
Professional qualification in CIPS will be an added

advantage


·        
Possession of Post graduate Diploma in Stores and

Warehouse Management is mandatory.


·        
A minimum of three years’ relevant experience

working in the field of stores and warehouse management in a donor environment.


·        
Previous experience working with USAID programs will

be an added advantage.


·        
Broad working knowledge of supply chain and

management of stores required


·        
The person should have the ability to work under

minimum supervision, and maintain a clean stores record and transparent system

while adhering to set procedures.


·        
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in relevant computer

applications and databases, with practical skills and experience required


·        
Highly self-motivated, focused, disciplined

professional, with the drive and dynamism to work under pressure with competing

deadlines, and possess the ability to make an immediate impact.


·        
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical

and result-oriented skills


·        
Prior experience in managing objectives with the

customer in mind.


·        
Good judgment, initiative, high sense of

responsibility, tactful, ability to plan, organize and measure outcomes of

interventions.


·        
Exemplary and honest, with a high level of energy

and integrity, and able to work under minimum supervision.


·        
High degree of flexibility, innovativeness


·        
Good record keeping skills


·        
Excellent communication and presentation skills


·        
Good report writing, and interpersonal skills.


·        
Team player with the ability to make positive

contributions.


·        
S/he should be detail- and results-oriented, have

strong conceptual, analytical, and reporting skills, with expertise in

information gathering, analysis and timely reporting, be proactive in

instituting innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective interventions, and work

dedicatedly to fulfill the organization’s goals, while upholding the Core

Values of UHMG.
