Uganda Health

UHMG was
awarded the USAID/Uganda Social Marketing Activity, a four-year cooperative
agreement for a health sector-wide program. The program’s goal is to contribute
to a reduction in new HIV infections, total fertility, maternal and child
mortality, malnutrition and malaria, and to improve access to family planning.
This four-year activity aims to improve utilization of and increase the uptake
of health-related social marketing products and services among under-served
Ugandan consumers and communities in rural and urban areas.
Job Summary: The Regional
Programs Manager will actively contribute to the strategic direction of the
Project’s regional programming. The incumbent ensures proper representation of
UHMG in the regions, at the district level, increasing UHMG collaboration with
District Local Governments
(DLGs) and partnership with other stakeholders in the region and ensures proper
integration of community activities into clinical service delivery. The job
holder also supports and strengthens UHMG presence and programs effectiveness
in the region with core focus on the community aspect of program
implementation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will mentor and supervise the Regional
Program Coordinators to ensure proper Management all regional activities including
planning, implementing and reporting.
·
The job holder will also design strategies and guide
implementation of community component of service delivery in GLCs and sub-grantees
in Family Planning, HIV, Malaria, Maternal Child Health, and Nutrition in the
region
·
Offer leadership in work planning, progress reviews
and sharing the work plans with the DLGs.
·
Steer the compilation of the regional progress
reports (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) for the region.
·
Establish and strengthen partnership with the
district and other stakeholders for effective implementation of the program
activities.
·
Act as the link between the region and UHMG head
office, district leaderships, GLCs and sub-grantees by providing regular update
on the progress of activities in the regions.
·
Mentor and supervise the GLCs, sub grantees in the
region for optimum performance of agreed targets.
·
Integrate social marketing activities to ensure
access and utilization of affordable health products in the regions.
·
The incumbent will also support Good life clinics
integrate outreaches within their catchment areas, and ensure traceable
referrals within the regions.
·
Supervise and coordinate all trainings in the
regions.
·
The job holder will also coordinate all the project
resources in the regions (financial and equipment) and ensure proper accountability
in line with UHMG policies.
·
Responsible for managing Social Marketing initiatives
during UHMG health products during integrated outreaches.
·
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Deputy
Chief of Party.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
·
The applicant for the USAID Project Regional
Programs Manager job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social
Work, BBA, Public Health, Social Sciences, Population Studies, any other related
Social Sciences field
·
Possession of a Master’s Degree in a related field
is a must.
·
Strong program management skills are required as well
as experience with establishing and maintain operations systems (general
management and administration);
·
A minimum of five years’ relevant experience working
in program/project management in a donor environment.
·
Previous experience working with USAID programs will
be an added advantage.
·
Computer literacy i.e. Proficiency in relevant
computer applications and databases, with hands-on experience in the use of software
is required
·
Self-motivated, focused, disciplined professional,
with the drive and dynamism to work under pressure with competing deadlines,
and possess the ability to make an immediate impact.
·
Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical
and result-oriented skills, and experience in managing objectives with the
customer in mind.
·
Good judgment, initiative, high sense of
responsibility, tactful, ability to plan, organize and measure outcomes of
interventions.
·
Highly exemplary and honest, with a high level of
energy and integrity, and able to work under minimum supervision.
·
The applicant should have the have the capacity to
work under minimum supervision, and maintain a clean and transparent regional
management and oversight system while adhering to set procedures.
·

results-oriented
·
Possess excellent conceptual, analytical, and
reporting skills, with expertise in information gathering, analysis and timely
reporting, be proactive in instituting innovative, sustainable, and
cost-effective interventions, and work dedicatedly to fulfill the organization’s
goals, while upholding the Core Values of UHMG

Flexible, innovative, with good record keeping,
communication, presentation, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
