Job Summary: The Child

Protection Specialist will be responsible for the technical aspects of the

ChildFund project implementation that relates to family-child separation and

children’s reintegration in family care.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
The incumbent will be a key contributor to the

development of project strategies to identify children at risk of family- child

separation, and to measure project’s impact on child wellbeing.


·        
Actively contribute to the household economic

strengthening strategies, developing child safeguards, gender transformative

approaches and strategies to serve children with disabilities.


·        
Offer technical direction and oversight in project

implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected results and

reporting requirements.


·        
Acts as the primary focal person for the project

Child Protection related activities.


·        
Documents lessons learnt, reports project progress and

makes recommendation for solutions and future learning.


·        
The job holder disseminates lessons learned and

relevant research finding to members


·        
Prepares and sends relevant reports timely and disseminates

to all stakeholders.


·        
Regularly review programme plans to ensure

coordination with other Organizations on Project activities


·        
Conduct all performance management activities for

his/her direct reports, including performance planning, monitoring, quarterly

and annual performance appraisals


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the Child Protection Specialist

must hold a Master’s Degree in social work or related field.


·        
At least five years’ experience implementing Child

Protection programs in Uganda.


·        
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of

Uganda’s Alternative Care Framework, as well as conditions of children living

outside of family care.


·        
Familiarity with innovative approaches to integrate

economic strengthening interventions in programs aiming to achieve child level

outcomes.


·        
Detailed working knowledge of interventions and

strategies aiming to strengthen informal and formal child protection

mechanisms, with a focus on gender transformation and people with disabilities.


·        
Proven ability to work effectively with government

representatives, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders,

particularly at the sub-national level.


·        
Professional level of oral and written fluency in

English language
