Uganda

Christian University was founded when the historic Bishop Tucker Theological

College was promoted as a university in 1997. Bishop Tucker Theological College

trained clergy and educators during its 84-year history from 1913-1997. The

local chief, Hamu Mukasa, granted land for the college to operate in Mukono. International

partnerships were part of the College’s missionary history. The Church Mission

Society teamed with Ugandan leaders and others to assure the College had the

necessary intellectual and other capital. By the late 1990s, the Church of

Uganda sought to have a broader impact on society through the higher education

– not only of clergy but of other professionals as well. Uganda Christian

University was established in 1997.


Key Duties and Responsibilities: 


·        
Manage all University land and ensure that it is

properly fenced and cared for.


·        
The incumbent will also manage the University ground

to ensure that they are kept neat and tidy


·        
Ensure security of university property


·        
Supervise all water work in and around the

University premises and ensure that a good running water system is properly

maintained at the University.


·        
Ensure proper maintenance of University building and

do all necessary repairs


·        
Responsible for supervising all group employees and

any other contracted workers.


·        
The job holder will manage building and construction

work going on in the University.


·        
In charge of appraising all staff in the Estates

department (Security officer, Plumber, Electrician, Compound Manager).


·        
The job holder will serve as the secretary to

Planning and Development Committee.


·        
Shall be a member of the Administrative Management

Committee.


·        
Prepare and submit periodic reports to the College

Secretary.


·        
Perform any other official duties that may be

assigned by the College Secretary.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The Estates Officer must hold a Diploma in Civil,

Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution of higher

learning.


·        
A minimum of two years’ experience performing

similar tasks.


·        
The applicant must be a person of high integrity and

is self-driven.


·        
Must be a committed and mature Christian.
