Job Summary: The Senior
Officer, Responsible Engaged and Loving Fathers (REAL) actively contributes to
Save the Children’s capacity to implement the REAL Fathers project and will be
responsible for reducing Gender Based Violence (GBV), especially issue of
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), and support raising children in a non-violent
manner. This is done through mentorship interventions and men’s lifestyle
campaigns that promote positive masculinity and men’s empowerment as fathers
and husbands. This project challenges gender norms and sexual scripts that
often underlie coercion and violence in relationships and teaches effective
parenting, communication, and problem-solving skills. The job holder works with
the Centre Management Committees of existing Early Childhood Care and
Development Centres and supports the design, implementation and monitoring of
activities in the region. The job holder collaborates with Georgetown
University Institute for Reproductive Health staff on intervention design,
implementation, and facilitating ongoing research activities to test the
hypothesis. The Senior Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to
support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:

The ideal candidate for the Save the Children Senior
Officer, Responsible Engaged and Loving Fathers (REAL) job opportunity should
hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Social sciences, Development Studies,
Adult Education or related field. Accrued working experience, with skills and
experience in implementation of community based or parenting projects.
Postgraduate training in Gender related field, Population Studies or Management
is an added advantage.

At least three years of related experience
implementing projects in a related field preferably reproductive health/family
planning programs within Karamoja an advantage.
·
Working knowledge of Sexual Gender Based Violence
programming and sexual behavior change communication (SBCC) is desirable
·
Previous experience in project monitoring, training
and mentoring (excellent analytical skills).
·
Skilled and knowledgeable in providing technical
support to community groups implementing interventions for young people aged
18-25 years old that explore health practices from a gender norms perspective.
·
Past exposure and experience of working with local
partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health,
Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage.
·
Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning
abilities.
·
Ability to establish and maintain conducive
collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
·
Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills
are a must.
·
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to
work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds
and cultures.
·
Ability to intervene with crisis management or
troubleshooting as necessary.
·
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
·
Excellent time management and planning capacity.
·
Availability and willingness to work extra hours
during times of humanitarian responses.
·
Experience and knowledge of working in Karamoja and
ability to speak the local language Ngakarimojong fluently is a strong
requirement.
·
Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach
areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
