Job Summary: The Save the

Children Program Coordinator MNH takes overall responsibility for managing of

SCIs MNH projects in Wakiso, Mukono and Kampala, and guiding and monitoring the

performance of a team of 3-4 program staff. The incumbent works in liaison with

the Regional area Manager, the health advisor and designated SCI member technical

advisors for the project  to  ensure the overall compliance and integrity of

the program, and ensure its success and visibility.  S/he will provide leadership and daily

oversight for planning and implementation of activities including; internal

monitoring and evaluation of project The Program coordinator will work closely

and liaise with the other project managers of other projects in the region to

spar integration and benefit from project synergies within the region; while

ensuring that project implementation is well aligned to approved design, SCI

program quality benchmarks and contributes to SCI’s overall country and global

outcomes and breakthrough for children. The position holder may also be called

upon as and when necessary to provide support in humanitarian responses.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 


·        
The ideal candidate for the Save the Children Program

Coordinator MNH job opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in

Nursing, Public Health or Clinical officer is preferred.


·        
Four or more years’ experience in RH/Maternal

Neonatal and Child Health programming, health/public health and or in a

health/public health organization, including experience as a national level

trainer/technical assistance provider in the area of RH/MCH with Government of

Uganda or an International NGO.


·        
Significant experience in facilitating training and

in developing materials including mentorship and support supervision tools;


·        
Past exposure and experience with providing

institutional support and technical assistance to decentralization and or NGOs

on issues related to RH/MNCH service provision;


·        
Previous experience in RH/maternal newborn and child

health programming including facility and community based health service

improvement is essential;


·        
Broad knowledge and understanding of Government

policies on RH/MNCH issues and how to contribute to their development with

political analysis skills, sensitivity and diplomacy.


·        
Previous experience in research methods, data

collection and analysis.


·        
Prior experience of working with the Local

Government, and local partners with focus on improving the learning

environments is an added advantage.


·        
Excellent analytical skills and strategic planning

abilities.


·        
Ability to establish and maintain conducive

collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.


·        
Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills

are a must.


·        
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to

work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds

and cultures.


·        
Ability to intervene with crisis management or

troubleshooting as necessary.


·        
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

including influencing, negotiation and coaching.


·        
Excellent time management and planning capacity.


·        
Availability and willingness to work extra hours

during times of humanitarian responses.


·        
Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach

areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
