Cost and Management Accountant – Kampala – Pearl Engineering Company Limited

Pearl Engineering Company Limited is a construction business in Civil, Building, Electrical and Mechanical fields whose main objectives are to pool our vast professional experience together to render professional services in civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering fields specialising in Design, Construction, Installation and Maintenance services, and later, to extend into manufacturing sector.


Job Summary: The Cost and Management Accountant will be accountable for the ongoing analysis of process costing, target setting, costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· In charge of analyzing project requirements information and using it to make business decisions.
· Formulating business strategy to create wealth and shareholder value.
· Conducting quarterly review of the company projects to ensure activities are in line with the Budget and Bills of Quantities.
· In charge of monitoring Projects spending and financial control.
· Conducting internal business audits.
· Provide the monthly management accounts, budget performance reports to aid business planning.
· Participate in cost analysis and cost- reduction of projects.
· Charged with strategic and medium term planning.
· Responsible for costing Imports and overall inventory management.
· Ensure accuracy of sites stock records.
· Carry out periodic stock taking and monitor stock movements between sites.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in an accounting or finance background.
· Possession of at least Part II of Professional Accounting Qualification i.e. ACCA, CPA, CIMA etc.
· A minimum of five years’ experience in a busy accounting environment
· Previous experience in use of SAP software will be an added advantage
· Commercially minded with strong analysis skills.
· Keen attention to detail and the ability to work logically, consistently and accurately.
· Excellent numeracy skills combined with an inquiring, analytical mind.
· Good working knowledge of accounting information, while keeping up to date with changing financial rules and regulations
· Demonstrated ability to discuss financial issues with both fellow professionals and those with little or no financial background
· Self-motivation and excellent time and project management skills
· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to forge positive working relationships.
· Strong computer skills in MS Word and Excel and SAP
