Reports to: Ferry Engineer


The

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was established by an Act of Parliament;

The Uganda National Authority Act, No. 15 of 2006. UNRA became operational on

1st July 2008.  The mandate of UNRA is to

develop and maintain the national roads network, advise Government on general

roads policy and contribute to addressing of transport concerns, among others.


Job Summary: The Electrical Technician will also be responsible

for trouble shooting, maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic systems,

components and equipment. The performance of the post holder will be reflected

in the good electrical condition of the ferries, plant and equipment.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts the maintenance and repair of

    electrical systems, components, and equipment;

  • Detects and reports any anomalies on electrical

    systems, components, and equipment;

  • Actively participates in repairing mechanical

    equipment as and when required;

  • Prepares and submits weekly, monthly,

    quarterly and any incidental reports;

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Ferry

    Engineer


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the UNRA Electrical

    Technician job vacancy should hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from

    a recognized institution  with UNEB Part-2

    certificate in electrical installation from a recognized institution.

  • At least three years’ hands-on working

    experience in electrical installations,

  • electrical repairs, electrical trouble

    shooting, circuit reading/installation hands on

  • experience. Tests will be undertaken to

    verify the hands on experience.

  • High levels of integrity;

  • Ability to work as part of a team;

  • Excellent interpersonal, particularly

    staff/management relation skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication

    skills;

  • Ability to deliver accurate results in a

    timely manner and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
